Allison J. Gunne, Ph.D., Licensed Psychological Examiner, provides psycho-educational evaluations for elementary aged children, adolescents, and college students who are enrolled within public school districts, private schools, and colleges.

Dr. Gunne specializes in the diagnosis and intervention of Dyslexia.

Our primary mission is to provide the most relevant, thorough, and comprehensive evaluation services available, at a cost which is reasonable and affordable.

Typical clients are parents who wish to understand their child’s unique abilities in order to locate the point at which interventions should begin. Dr. Gunne extends the evaluation process into specific educational recommendations, programs, and methods which are evidence based and specific to identified learning challenges.

Professional Services include individual testing and evaluation for learning problems, educational consulting, school psychology services, professional development workshops, presentations on educational and mental health topics, direct intervention for learning problems in reading (dyslexia), referrals, and recommendations. When appropriate, parents are provided with assistance in understanding federal and state regulations related to special education services under IDEA and Section 504.

Experience Dr. Gunne has 37 years of extensive experience and training in private practice settings and public school settings, as both a psychotherapist and school psychologist. Dr. Gunne provides the following services to parents, children, adolescents and individual adults:

  • Understand the process of Educational Disability Certification in public schools
  • Prepare parents to meet with the school district
  • Negotiate and resolve problems within the educational setting
  • Obtain educational services (IEP) for their child
  • Understand difference between Section 504 & IDEA
  • Plan educational interventions (goals & objectives)
  • Provide objective academic progress monitoring

Educational Background includes a B. A. in General Psychology, an M. S. in Counseling Psychology, an Ed.S. in School Psychology, and a Ph.D. in School Psychology. In addition, Dr. Gunne earned the Specialist Certification in Dyslexic Studies through the MTSU Center for the Study & Treatment of Dyslexia.

License to Practice Allison J. Gunne, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychological Examiner, State of TN Health Related Boards, Board of Examiners in Psychology, [See TN Code Annotated-LPE Scope of Practice]. A required affidavit of supervision by TN Licensed Psychologist/HSP is on file and located at Health Related Boards, Board of Examiners in Psychology, 227 French Landing, Suite 300/Nashville, TN 37243. Dr. Gunne also holds a license as a school psychologist through TN State Department of Education.
